Chitooligosaccharides Enhances Sorafenib-Induced Apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 Human Breast Cancer Cells
Kwon Sang-Chul

Abstract
Sorafenib, an oral multikinase inhibitor, having efficacy in various cancer as per recent literature. Therefore, this study was carried out to verify the anticancer activity of sorafenib in combination with chitooligosaccharides using MTT assay, Flow cytometry (FACS) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) measurement. This study prepared chitooligosaccharides 50-5,000~10,000 Da (I), COS 50-1,000~5,000 Da (II), COS 50- below the 1,000 Da (III), COS 75-I, COS 75-II, COS 75-III, COS 90-I, COS 90-II and COS 90-III from 50, 75, 90% deacetylated three kinds of chitooligosaccharides. The COS 90-III showed the highest anticancer activity with 0.5 ¥ìM sorafenib co-treat in MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer. These results suggest that chitooligosaccharides in combination with sorafenib serves as an effective anticancer in breast cancer cells.
